A brief history of LGV

  • LGV was one of the first Townhouse Complexes to be built in South Africa after the Sectional Title Act was passed on 19 June 1971.
  • The land was a Southern Blue Gum tree (Eucalyptus Globulus) plantation; some of the trees were initially retained - due to excessive growth and proximity to units, sadly they have been removed over time.
  • Spanning just under 3 hectares (approximately 7 acres), LGV was built in three phases: Phase 1 completed in 1974, Phase 2 in 1976 and Phase 3 in 1978.
  • An excellent investment - units were initially marketed around R40 000 - uptake was slow due to the poor economic cycle and political instability at the time - currently units are selling for over R600 000.

  • The parking areas at the now gates 13 and 16  were open and used by visitors and residents alike on a first come first served basis ... if the parking was full you simply parked in the street and/or pavement and it was relatively safe to leave the car there overnight.
